SIDNEY — Laurel Chalfant from Christian Academy Schools was recognized at the March 31, 2021 Kiwanis meeting as the Student of The Month.

During the meeting she enjoyed a meal, was presented her plaque by US Rep. Jim Jordan, and listened to Jordan share what is happening in Washington. She was joined by her parents Wayne Chalfant and Jennifer Chalfant, both of Sidney.

Chalfant is a 4.04 student who plans to attend Ohio Northern University majoring in Middle School Education. She has been actively involved in her school and community as a leader and role model. She is currently the president of CAS student Council, member of Voices Eternal show choir, small group leader for middle school students, and a member of Sharon School of Dance.

Chalfant stays busy as she carries a full load at school, participates in the school play, and works part-time.
