SIDNEY — A narcotics search warrant executed by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team on March 27 resulted in the arrest of a Sidney man and the confiscation of drugs, drug paraphernalia and a firearm.

After an on-going narcotics investigation, Arnel Murphy, 50, was arrested when deputies executed a search warrant at his residence at 8160 Stoker Road.

Located on the property were two different campers and an apartment that was built inside of a building/barn, said Shelby County Sheriff Jim Frye’s press release. SWAT team members searched the first camper and located Murphy hiding under a bed at the rear of the camper.

Murphy did have an active arrest warrant out of Shelby County for trafficking in drugs charges. He was arrested and transported to the Shelby County Jail.

During the search, deputies located over 16 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, a large amount of drug paraphernalia and a firearm.

The case is still under investigation and criminal charges are pending in Shelby County and other jurisdictions. The case will be presented to Shelby County Prosecutor Tim Sell for review.
