FORT LORAMIE — St. Michael’s Hall will host a community blood drive Tuesday, April 20, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 33 Elm St., Fort Loramie.

St. Michael’s Hall now hosts six blood drives per year, all sponsored by the Fort Loramie American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Fort Loramie Community Service Club, St. Michael’s Church and the St. Michael’s Knights of St. John.

Despite the many challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, donor support at St. Michael’s 2020 blood drives declined only 10% from 2019. St. Michael’s Hall hosted three blood drives with 780 donors and added two COVID-19 plasma drives.

St. Michael’s began 2021 with a key blood drive on Feb. 16, the morning after eight inches of snow fell on Shelby County. The blood drive registered 224 donors, including 194 whole blood donors, 16 platelet and plasma donors, and 14 CCP donors.

Appointments for blood drives must be made at www.DonorTime.com or by calling 937-461-3220.

Donors are required to provide a photo ID that includes their full name. Past CBC donors also are asked to bring their CBC donor ID card.

Donors must be at least 17 years of age, or 16 years old with parental consent, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good physical health. The Food and Drug Administration changes blood donor eligibility guidelines periodically.

Individuals with eligibility questions are invited to email [email protected] or call 800-388-GIVE.
