SIDNEY — The Sidney Civic Band is returning to the court square. The first concert is appropriately themed “Happy Days are Here Again!” and will be held Friday, June 18, at 7 p.m.

“I speak for myself and our talented band members – we are glad to be back!” said Civic Band conductor Phil Chilcote. “Some folks may never know how much they enjoyed something until it’s gone, but that’s not the case for our musicians. We enjoy performing and we really enjoy playing in beautiful downtown Sidney. We truly missed it last year.”

Selections for the June 18 concert include “Happy Days Are Here Again,” “Blue Tango,” “Hang on Sloopy.” “Rock Around the Clock”, and “Highlights from the Jersey Boys.” to name just a few.

Other concert themes and dates are June 25: “Big Band Concert with Swing Era”; July 2: “Sidney: The Heart of America”; July 9: “Music Visions”; July 16: “In the Beginning there Was RYTHYM”;, July 23: “Music: The Force that Moves Us!” The annual Christmas concert date will be forthcoming.

The concert is free. As always, bring a lawn chair to the square; refreshments will be available for purchase from the Connection Point Church of God Relay for Life team beginning 30 minutes prior to the concerts. A Spot Pie will be given away to the winner of our random drawing trivia question. In case of rain, the concert will be canceled.
