Active COVID cases drop by 27 this week

SIDNEY — Shelby County saw a decrease in active COVID cases this week.

There are currently 665 active COVID cases in Shelby County — down from the 692 active cases reported last week.

There are 5,681 Shelby County residents who are presumed to have recovered from COVID-19.

In total, Shelby County has reported 6,346 cases of COVID-19 with 223 hospitalizations and 109 deaths during the pandemic.

Throughout Ohio, there have been 1,485,514 total cases of COVID-19, with 76,590 hospitalizations, 9,780 intensive care admissions and 23,021 resident deaths.

In Shelby County, 16,492 people have started or completed COVID-19 vaccinations, which is 33.94% of the population and up 96 people since last week. Statewide, 6,389,065 people have been vaccinated, which is 54.66% of the population. All Ohioans 12 and older are eligible for vaccination.

In Auglaize County, a total of 49 new cases were reported from Oct. 12 to 14. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Auglaize County has reported 6,527 total cases with 385 hospitalizations and 70 deaths.
