Fogts celebrate 50 years

ANNA — Les and Karen Fogt, of Anna, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 13, 2021, with a private celebration at the Do Good Restaurant in Osgood. The couple celebrated their anniversary in August with their immediate family in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Les and the former Karen Dietz were married on Nov. 13, 1971 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Botkins. The Rev. Robert J.C. Bastian officiated the ceremony. It was a sunny and warm autumn day. The rehearsal party was hosted by the groom’s parents at the Wooden Shoe in Minster. Witnesses to the wedding were maid of honor Debra (Dietz) Muskus, best man Larry Fogt, and wedding party members Joan (Dietz) Spence, Nancy (Dietz) King, Jane (Fogt) Lazier, Mary Jane Sollmann, Diane Aufderhaar, Michael Dietz, Barry Muskus, Thomas Westerman, David Zepernick and Raymond Lazier.

The couple honeymooned at DisneyWorld in Florida. They attended the grand opening of the park.

They are the parents of Kendra Fogt, of Kettlersville, and Eric and Melissa Fogt. They are the grandparents of Weslee Fogt, 14, Ayva Fogt, 12, Morgan Fogt, 9, and Aubrey Fogt, 6.

Karen is the daughter of the late Eugene and Mary Louise Dietz, of Botkins. She is the sister of the late Joan Spence, Nancy King, of Bluffton, South Carolina, Debra Muskus, of Lima, and the late Michael Dietz.

Les is the son of the late George and Elfrieda Fogt, of Kettlersville. He is the brother of the late Larry Fogt, the late Jane Lazier and the late Ann Fogt.

Karen worked for the United States Posal Office for 30 years and retired in May 2018.

Les worked for Emerson Electric for 45 years and retired in July 2015.

The couple enjoys spending time with their grandchildren and watching their events such as cross country, track, soccer, softball, and basketball. They enjoy traveling and have visited all 50 states, and love spending time with family and friends. Les enjoys golfing. Most of all, the couple enjoys spending time together.
