Council member thanked for service

NEW KNOXVILLE – Exiting Council member Mike Kaup was thanked for his service at the Dec. 29 meeting of the New Knoxville Council. Also, council members approved the 2022 budget.

Kaup, who had served for six years as a council member, chose not to seek re-election in the last General Election. Mayor Keith Leffel lauded Kaup’s expertise while serving, presenting him with a plaque thanking him for his service. The mayor also said they were still looking for someone to fill the seat vacated by Kaup. Interested people can contact the village offices for more information.

In other action, council approved a $3,815,317.84 budget for 2022. village solicitor Jason This was approved for a two year contract paying $7,500 per year. Village employee portion of premiums on health insurance was approved, with 10% for employees and 25% for dependents.

Council also approved a number of payments toward note retirements including projects on South Street, Mill Street, Laura Street, Bremen Street storm sewer and street improvements. The fire department received their $15,000 payment.
