‘Our Hometown Heroes’ program underway

NEW BREMEN — The sixth annual “Our Hometown Heroes” banners is underway in New Bremen.

According to organizer Diane Naseman, she started the program in 2016 in honor of her son, MSG Brian K. Naseman, Army National Guard, who died on May 22, 2009 in Iraq, and for her husband, Richard J. Naseman who died April 29, 2016. He was in the army during the

Vietnam Era.

The deadline for orders for is April 18, 2022. Banners will be placed around the village for Memorial Day. After the deadline, orders can still be placed and the banners will be put up for Veterans Day.

Order forms and information can be picked up at The American Legion Post, 241 canteen, New Bremen, Schwieterman’s Pharmacy New Bremen, or by calling Naseman at 419-305-9597 or email, [email protected].

Criteria to be eligible to be a Hometown Hero includes:

• Being a current or deceased member of the American Legion Post 241;

• A current or deceased resident of New Bremen;

• A New Bremen resident currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, or;

• A graduate of New Bremen High School.

The banners will be displayed one full week before Memorial Day and will come down after Veterans Day.

“I want to thank all Veterans for their service and sacrifices and to the families for their sacrifices. Also, for those who are currently serving God be with you and keep you safe. For those who gave all thank you for your service and sacrifices, RIP. Please, when you see a veteran tell them thank you for their service and sacrifices,” said Naseman.
