Historic Sidney Theatre announces summer camps

SIDNEY — The Historic Sidney Theatre is bringing back its full line-up of Summer Theatre Camps for 2022.

This year there will be four different camps for students of all ages to participate in.

The first camp is “Swamped!” and is for students entering grades 1 through 3. Campers will participate in workshops full of acting, singing, dancing, crafting, stage combat, and more. The workshops work toward putting together the mini musical: “Swamped!”. Campers will have the opportunity to perform their work for an audience of friends and family on the last day of camp. This camp takes place June 6 through 10 and is for rising first graders through rising third graders. The cost for registration is $50 for HST members and $75 for non-HST members. per student. Camp runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon with a special performance on Friday at 6 p.m.

The second camp is “Summer Camp!” and is for students entering grades 4 through 6. Campers will participate in workshops full of acting, singing, dancing, crafting, stage combat, and more. The workshops work toward putting together the mini musical: “Summer Camp!” Campers will have the opportunity to perform their work for an audience of friends and family on the last day of camp. This camp takes place June 6 through 10 and is for rising fourth graders through rising sixth graders. The cost for registration is $75 for HST members and $100 for non-HST members per student. Camp runs Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. with a special performance on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

The third camp is the High School Musical Theatre Intensive: “Broadway Bootcamp.” For those who want to continue singing and dancing throughout the summer, this week-long musical theater summer intensive is for them. This camp takes place June 13 to 17 and is for rising 9th graders through recent graduates. The cost for registration is free. Camp runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a special performance on Saturday, June 18 during The Sidney Music and Arts Festival at 4 p.m.

The fourth camp is “Joust!” for students entering grades seven through eight. Campers will participate in workshops full of acting, singing, dancing, crafting, stage combat, and more. The workshops work toward putting together the mini musical: “Joust!” Campers will have the opportunity to perform their work for an audience of friends and family on the last day of camp. This camp takes place June 20 to 24 and is for rising seventh and eighth graders. The cost for registration is $100 for HST members and $125 for non-HST members per student. Camp runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a special performance on Friday at 7 p.m.
