Mitchell Jr. sentenced to prison

SIDNEY — The Shelby County Common Pleas Court handed down several sentences during the week of Feb. 28 for domestic violence and drug trafficking, among other charges.

Theodore T. Mitchell Jr., 36, who is in the Shelby County Jail, was recently sentenced to nine months in prison at the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections and discretionary post-release parole for up to two years with 45 days of jail credit for domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony. He was initially indicted on domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony, criminal damaging or endangering, a second-degree misdemeanor, and intimidation, a third-degree felony, but the latter two counts were dismissed. He knowingly caused physical harm to a person with whom he was cohabitating by shoving her down, he knowingly broke a car window, and he knowingly threatened to harm Deputy Joel March, saying he would burn his house down, kill his family and get him fired from his job. He was previously convicted of domestic violence in Franklin County.

Trisa L. Boyd, 33, who is in the Shelby County Jail, was recently sentenced to 18 months in prison and discretionary post-release parole of up to two years for aggravated trafficking in drugs, a third-degree felony. She was initially indicted on aggravated trafficking in drugs, a third-degree felony, because she knowingly sold or offered to sell methamphetamine in the vicinity of a school.

Austin L. Rogers, 23, of Sidney, was recently sentenced to five years of community control, mental health counseling and to take medications as prescribed with 94 days of jail credit for domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony. He was initially indicted for domestic violence, a third-degree felony, for punching and striking his father in the face and head, causing a visible injury to his eye. He was previously convicted of domestic violence in Darke County on Dec. 5, 2018, and in Miami County on July 7, 2021.
