SIDNEY — The Angel Award for FISH of Shelby County was presented during the annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon and Annual Membership Meeting.

Irene and Gene Berning were awarded FISH’s “Angel Award” 2022 which is given each year to a volunteer who contributes more than average service to FISH as well as to others in the community. FISH volunteers nominate fellow volunteers for this annual award. Winners of this award in the recent past include Darla Cabe, Mary Bensman, Donna Gross, Mary Miller and Kathy Hellman.

The luncheon was held at Cornerstone Church in Sidney. A short business meeting was conducted by FISH president Darla Cabe, which included sharing information of FISH statistics for 2021. A new member of the FISH Board of Directors, Jean Harmon, of Jackson Center, was welcomed to the board and current board member Doris Brock’s membership on the board was renewed.

Cabe and Russell performed solos, duets and invited the entire group to sing-a-long for the traditional hymn ‘Amazing Grace” and the patriotic “God Bless America.” The event was concluded with door prizes being given out to volunteers as well as each volunteer receiving his/her annual “Payday” candy bar.

Door prizes were kindly donated by Crossway Farms, ReVive Home Decor, Shoe Sensation, Dekkers Flower Shop, Sidney Tire, The Spot Restaurant, Amelio’s Pizzeria, People’s Federal & Savings, Ivy Garland, Allison’s Jewelry, Sidney Foodtown and Meal Prep Life.

FISH is grateful for these donations and for the assistance and support of Pastor Harry Peterson and the staff of Cornerstone Church.
