MINSTER — Many ancestors of the residents in and around Minster, Maria Stein and Celina come from the German districts of Osnabrück, Cloppenburg and Vechta in Lower Saxony. Names such as Clune, Dalinghaus, Mescher and Winner, just to name a few, were brought from the northwest of Germany to Minster and the wide surrounding area.

The Minster Historical Society will host Hermann Welp and Bernd Struckmann from Nortrup, Germany, who will present a program in Minster about life in 19th century and in the 20th century in Northwest Germany along with the German emigration to America in the mid-1800’s.

The program will be held Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the United Steelworkers Union Hall, 180 W. Fifth St., Minster, Ohio.

The public is invited to this free event.
