SIDNEY – Looking for a local technology repair and servicing business with reasonable prices? Sidney Computer Solutions is a one-stop shop for all technology matters, with some services including PC, laptop and phone repair, smart home setups and the digitization of photos and home movies on VHS.
The business officially opened at the end of March 2022 and just recently became a Sidney-Shelby County Chamber of Commerce member. However, owner Erin Winfree – who is originally from Waco, Texas and has been living in Sidney for one year – has been fixing and building computers on the side and upgrading his own systems for over 10 years and has had an interest in computers and technology since he was a kid.
“I’ve always enjoyed working with computers and other technology. It seemed like a natural progression into making something I enjoy into my livelihood,” Winfree said. “My wife had encouraged me several times over the years to work in computer repair or IT since I like doing it. However, it wasn’t until I briefly worked with a computer repair company that I realized just how much of a market was out there.”
Currently, Winfree runs the business out of his house and his wife, Ellen, helps with the day-to-day operations. Winfree’s focus is currently on residential and small business clients within 15 miles of Sidney to make the business known to the area. Some technology issues can also be fixed remotely, and Winfree can help regardless of the distance. When the business gets bigger, a brick-and-mortar store might be in the works.
“It would be nice to eventually move into a brick-and-mortar store,” Winfree said. “Our current business plan is to keep our overhead costs low while building a steady customer base. Once we have that, we’ll hopefully be able to take on the costs associated with a storefront.”
Winfree will be able to keep clients returning with his customer service practices and large skill set.
“I really like to focus on treating my customers how I would like to be treated. That means being upfront and honest about my pricing structure and as accurate as possible in estimating how long it will take,” Winfree said. “I’m honestly open to a wide variety of services. If you don’t see it listed on the website, just ask and I’ll see if it’s something I can do.”
