SIDNEY — Sidney City Schools staff are ready to start the school year. This year the district is welcoming new administration at Sidney Middle School and Longfellow Primary
Sidney Middle School welcomes a new administrative team with principal Gregg Johnson and assistant principals Jesie Geuy and Chris Lucius. Michelle Link will replace Michael Moore at Longfellow Primary as principal. Moore is staying in the district but moving to oversee Jacket Virtual Academy (JaVA) as principal.
Johnson joins Sidney City Schools as principal at SMS with 11 years of educational experience, most recently serving as assistant middle school principal at Graham Local Schools. Johnson earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Muskingum College and his master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Dayton. Johnson has taught various middle school grades at Riverside Local Schools and Bellefontaine City Schools and has served as a K-8 instructional coach and middle school athletic director. He and his wife, also an education administrator, enjoy spending time with their son boating and kayaking.
“The question that drives every decision I make is ‘What is best for the students?’ This strategy will not change as I serve the Sidney Middle School community. I can’t wait to work with the staff at Sidney Middle School to change the lives of students, one educational experience at a time,” said Johnson.
Geuy joins Sidney City Schools as assistant principal at SMS. Geuy earned her bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Ohio University, which led her to teach high school language arts at Anna Local Schools. She obtained her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction also from Ohio University, and her license in educational administration from Ashland University. Teaching through the pandemic compelled Geuy to explore taking on a stronger leadership role in education. She and her husband have two children and look forward to growing within the community.
“I’m excited to bring a sense of pride and positivity to Sidney City Schools,” said Geuy. “I know that together with the strong SMS staff, we can strive to thrive and surpass all the challenges we may face together.”
Lucius joins Sidney City Schools as assistant principal at SMS. Lucius earned his bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Bowling Green State University, his master’s degree in special education from the University of Toledo, and his license in educational administration from the University of Findlay. He previously served as assistant principal of discipline and as athletic director at Rossford Exempted Village School District. Lucius and his wife have three children ages 8, 6, and 5.
“I am so excited for this year and look forward to working with my colleagues dedicating our time, talent, and energy to continuing the academic and athletic excellence of the Sidney community,” said Lucius. “It is not an honor we will take lightly.”
Link joins Sidney City Schools as principal of Longfellow Primary. With 16 years of experience in education, Link earned her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and master’s in intervention from Wright State University Lake Campus; she also earned her license in educational administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. She has taught third grade, served as a K-9 intervention specialist, and served as a Data and Literacy Coach. Much of her career has been spent at Minster Elementary School. She and her husband have six children, who are a blended group of biological and foster children.
“I’m excited to lead Longfellow and learn about the traditions in place, as well as continue to grow the school community to meet the needs of all students,” said Link.
Sidney City Schools superintendent Bob Humble expressed his excitement about the new administrative staff. “Gregg, Jesie, Chris, and Michelle are going to be great additions to our team. All four are highly ambitious and eager to make a positive impact on the lives of our students and within our school community.”
