What’s happening at the Salvation Army

SIDNEY — The Salvation Army is preparing for the holiday season with a variety of events.

Nov. 18 is the Red Kettle Kick-Off Luncheon. The Salvation Army will be kicking off their Christmas season this year at the Vera Event Center in Sidney. Many Shelby County business-people and council members will gather together to learn about the effort of the Salvation Army to serve the community and fundraise that season.

Dec. 2 is the Stuff the Bus Toy Drive. The Salvation Army will be hanging out at the Sidney Walmart all day long (7 a.m.-9 p.m.) to collect toys for children in Shelby County. There will fun things happening all day long. Come by for the annual mascot competition at 7 p.m..

Angel Tags help a child have joy for Christmas. People can pick up an Angel Tag from the office or the Christmas trees right inside both entrances of Walmart. The toys are due back to the Salvation Army Dec. 5.

November and December, volunteer to Ring the Christmas Bells. In Shelby County alone there are 1000’s of hours available to ring the bell. Sign up to ring the bell at Walmart, Kroger, or Food Town. Visit the volunteer website, www.SAVolunteer.org, o get signed up or call Capt. Katie.
