WAPAKONETA — The Auglaize County 175th Anniversary Committee will host a gala at the Auglaize County Courthouse on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, from 7 to 10 p.m., in celebration of this county milestone.
The event will include dancing, food tasting —with offerings provided by Auglaize County restaurants — a cash bar, commemorative gift and history exhibits. Tickets are priced at $25 per person, and are now available from the Chambers of Commerce in St. Marys. Wapakoneta, and Southwestern Auglaize County, New Bremen, from members of the Waynesfield Lions Club, and at the office of the Auglaize County Commissioners.
Auglaize County was created by an act of the Ohio Legislature on Feb. 14, 1848. The 175th Anniversary Committee has been meeting for nearly 18 months to plan events — many of them free — throughout 2023 in celebration. The diverse offerings will include concerts, scholarly presentations, an industrial showcase and other special events at the 2023 fair, and more. The commemorative 175th T-shirt is already available for sale, while a commemorative coin will debut in early 2023.
“We’re confident that residents across the county will want to join in a night of festive celebration at the courthouse,” said 175th Committee member Rachel Barber.
Any profits from the gala will help fund other anniversary events in 2023.
