April 29, 1916

At a meeting of the guarantors for the Sidney Chautauqua for this summer held last evening, the dates of July 14 to 20 were selected for the event this year. The election of officers held resulted in the naming of B.T. Bulle, president; H.N. Dickensheets, vice president; Robert G. Taylor, secretary, and Arthur Allinger, treasurer.

75 Years

April 29, 1941

Members of city council at their regular session last evening authorized the city solicitor to prepare the necessary legislation increasing the salary of firemen from $125 per month to $140 per month. Council also authorized the employment of a part-time radio operator at a salary of $25 per month.

Initial plans for the annual alumni reunion of Sidney High School graduates were made at a meeting of the officers of the association held last evening in the office of C.C. Crawford, superintendent. Miss Mary Ellen Royon is president of the alumni; Dr. Russell Wiessinger, vice president; Miss Barbara Shelton, secretary; and Tom Potter, treasurer.

50 Years

April 29, 1966

Miss Charlotte Kay Zirkle has been elected recording secretary of Rho Kappa Delta (Arcady) sorority at Otterbein College Westerville. She will serve for the 1966-67 school year.

Mrs. Ben Dowell was elected president of the Rainbow Garden Club during a recent meeting held in her home. Mrs. Raymond Fledderjohann was named vice president and Mrs. Theodore Echeman, secretary.

25 Years

April 29, 1991

Anna High School varsity cheerleaders for 1991-92 are Leslie Reiss, 14; Paula Smith, 16, Christa Schemmel, 16; Courtney Drewes, 16, and Tara Watkins, 17.

Five teachers in the Sidney City Schools system were presented Thursday night with Doer’s Awards during the Sidney Education Association Banquet at the Sidney Holiday Inn. The teachers honored were: Robert Tenney, Beverly Moser, Nancy Bodnar, Nancy Deafenbaugh and Michael McRill. The award recognizes the extra effort put forth by the teachers.

Christine Bunker and Michael Mitchell displayed beaming smiles after they were crowned queen and king of the Jackson Center High School prom Saturday night at the school.
