Be a tourist in Auglaize County

WAPAKONETA — The Auglaize County Historical Society and the historical organizations of Auglaize County invite local residents to Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown on Saturday, June 4, and Sunday, June 5, from noon to 4 p.m.

Many sites will be open simultaneously, allowing visitors to explore and enjoy Auglaize County’s own unique and fascinating history. “Passports” are provided to participating tourists, which are initialed at each site visited. Those who visit six or more of the museum sites plus at least one of the county’s Ohio Historical Markers, see remarkableohio.org, can turn in their passport for the opportunity to win prizes.

The only other requirement to participate in the drawing is that one of the seven total stops must be the Cridersville or Uniopolis historical societies.

Participating locations include:

Armstrong Air & Space Museum (1/2 price admission)

Cridersville Historical Society Museum(free)

New Knoxville Historical Society Museum (Free)

Luelleman House, New Bremen Historic Association (Free)

ACHS’ Former Olive Branch Methodist Church, Shinbone (Free)

ACHS Mooney Museum (Free)

Pape House, New Bremen Historic Association (Free)

and the Uniopolis Historical Society Museum (Free).

Prizes include the following:

First Prize: $100 in gift certificates from the Wapakoneta and Southwest Auglaize County Chambers of Commerce

Second Prize: $50 in gift certificates from the Wapakoneta and Southwest Auglaize County Chambers

Third Prize: Auglaize County Postcard Images

Participants need not reside in Auglaize County.
