Commissioners designate land bank

SIDNEY — During recent meetings, the Shelby County commissioners designated the Shelby County Land Reutilization Corp. as the agency for the reclamation, rehabilitation and reutilization of vacant, abandoned, tax-foreclosed and other real property in the county.

In other business, the commissioners:

• Authorized advertising for bids for the Fort Loramie-Swanders Road bridge deck-replacement project. Bids will be opened May 5 at 11 a.m.

• Opened and took under advisement two quotes for aggregate materials.

• Authorized the establishment of the Volunteer Peace Officers’ Dependents Fund Board and appointed Robert Guillozet and Larry Sprague to the board.

• Approved a Job & Family Services agreement with Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley to administrate the TANF summer youth program. The contract amount is $196,248.

• Approved a payment of $49,922 to Slagle Mechanical Contractors for the jail water controls project.

• Appointed Deputy Kelli Ward as the new dog warden.

• Appointed Deputy Joel March as the new deputy dog warden.

• Issued proclamations declaring May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day, the week of May 15-21 as National Police Week and recognizing the Jackson Center High School volleyball team for winning the 2015 OHSAA Division IV State Volleyball Championship.

• Entered into a one-year agreement with the city of Sidney for IT services.

• Entered into a 2016 Community Development Grant agreement with the Ohio EPA.

• Entered into a service contract with NKTelco Inc. to change remote emergency equipment to fiber on communication towers in Anna, Russia, Fort Loramie, Jackson Center and Botkins

• Approved a quote in the amount of $3,500 from J.R. Levering to replace flag poles at the courthouse.

• Awarded the Fort Loramie-Swanders Road bridge deck-replacement project to Prestress Services Industries. The contract amount is $43,400.

• Entered into a shared services agreement with city of Sidney for GIS technological software and services to utilize the software system and services provided by Environmental Systems Research Institute Inc.

• Accepted a quote from Northwest Tower & Antenna Inc. for maintenance and lighting replacement on the Riverside Drive tower site at a total cost of $24,695.

• Convened a second public hearing for the Community Development Block Grant/Community Development Allocation Program.

• Attended the Community Action Organization of Delaware, Madison and Union Counties board meeting to initiate plans to incorporate the newly designated Community Action Agency of Champaign, Logan and Shelby Counties.

• Awarded a bid for the Staley Road reclamation and widening project to Phenix Stabilization LLC, of Columbus. The contract amount is $169,595.50.
