SIDNEY — The Shelby County Animal Rescue Foundation (SCARF) has announced a discount on fees for military veterans and current servicemen who adopt pets from the Shelby County Animal Shelter.
Those who adopt before June 14 will receive a $30 discount at the shelter and coupons for a free veterinary visit at Tri-County Veterinary Service in Sidney or Anna and a $30 discount on spaying or neutering there.
Those who adopt before June 18 will receive the coupons for the vet visit and spaying or neutering. Adopters will have 45 days from the adoption date to use the coupons.
SCARF said the discounts are a thank-you to veterans.
Regular adoption fees are $44 for dogs or puppies, which includes vaccinations and license tags or $100 for dogs or puppies spayed or neutered by the shelter and $15 for cats or kittens, which includes vaccinations, or $44 for cats or kittens spayed or neutered by the shelter.
The shelter, at 1100 Clem Road, is open for adoptions Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
