JACKSON CENTER — Local artist Dan Knepper’s oil painting, “Romancing the Light,” won the People’s Choice Award at the inaugural Airstream Fine Art Invitational exhibit.
The art show, featuring work by top landscape artists from across the country, was displayed in the Airstream service center building, May 31 through June 4.
“It was an extremely close vote that came down to the final day,” said Airstream Marketing Coordinator Brittany Fullenkamp, who oversaw the exhibit. “Knepper won with 16 percent of the vote. Chris Leeper (another Ohio artist) was right on his heels with 13 percent. Every artist had at least one vote.”
More than 800 people visited the show during its five-day run. Among them were Airstream owners who gathered for their annual reunion, Alumapalooza, and visitors to the village’s Community Days festival.
The show, comprising 25 paintings, provided an opportunity to see and purchase some of the nation’s best work. Fullenkamp said eight of paintings found buyers.
“We are elated with the turnout and support for the inaugural Airstream Fine Art Invitational,” she said. “We received an overabundance of positive comments from Airstream and art lovers, alike, many of whom drove far distances to attend the show, tour the factory and experience Alumpalooza.”
