Miss Chick, Little Miss Poultry Days to be chosen at Versailles festival

VERSAILLES – Ten young ladies will be vying for the 2016 Miss Chick of the Versailles Poultry Days this weekend. For Little Miss Poultry Days, 18 youngsters will be taking a shot at being crowned Friday.

The Miss Chick contest will begin with personal interviews at noon on Friday with the onstage interview and crowning set for 2 p.m. Saturday in the old high school gym, located at 459 S. Center St.

According to organizers, in addition to representing Poultry Days during their reign, the chosen Miss Chick will receive flowers, a plaque, crown and $400 for herself. The first and second runners-up will receive flowers, a plaque, and $200 and $150 each respectively.

Contestants will be judged on based on appearance; clothing; their poise, ability to speak, and platform presence; and their personal interview.

The contestants include Kayla Bruns, daughter of Brad and Lil Bruns; Shelby Winner, daughter of Jill and Eric Winner; Meladi Brewer, daughter of James and Tracy Brewer; Presley Oda, daughter of Shelly and Thomas Todd; Lily George, daughter of Bernie and Heidi May; Maggie Hedrick, daughter of Lisa and Kevin Hedrick; Brianne Buzard, daughter of Mary Buckingham and Edwin Buzard; Megan Marchal, daughter of Mark and Elaine Marchal; Megan VanSkyock, daughter of Shaun and Amy VanSkyock; and Alyssa Morgan, daughter of Aaron and Stephanie Morgan.

Little Miss Poultry Days contest set for Friday

The 32nd Annual Little Miss Poultry Days contest will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, in the old high school gym. Participants will be girls between the ages of 4-6.

Contestants will be judged on attire; along with personality, poise, and the ability to speak publicly.

The winner will receive her crown along with a cash prize of $100. The first runner-up will receive $75 and second runner-up $5. The court will also receive a trophy, sash, and a Nelly Pack.

Each participant will receive a flower, trophy and the opportunity to ride in the Poultry Day parade at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Contestants include Lauryn Dickey, daughter of Kris and Michelle Dickey; Sophia Gerling, daughter of Brian and Renee Gerling; Lilly Michael, daughter of Desmond and Amy Michael; Kenley Phlipot, daughter of Bradley and Mallory Phlipot; Stella Bergman, daughter of Aaron and Susan Bergman; Reagan Raterman, daughter of Joe and Andrea Raterman; Lydia Ward, daughter of Scott and Kim Ward; Kyra Bergman, daughter of Chris and Tiffany Bergman; and Naomi Rahm, daughter of Al and Melissa Rahm.

Others include Maggie DeLand, daughter of Tim and Katie DeLand: Audrey Ward, daughter of Scott and Kim Ward; Quinn Parin, daughter of Tony and Jennifer Parin; Brooke Keiser, daughter of Kurt and Nicci Keiser; Lillian Selhorst, daughter of Kevin and Sarah Selhorst; Camille Koopman, daughter of Bradley and Joyce Koopman; Emma Selhorst; daughter of Kevin and Sarah Selhorst; Bailey Wynk, daughter of Cody and Jaci Wynk; and Gwendolyn Schneible, daughter of Danny and Michele Schneible.
