MINSTER — On Friday, June 17, the Minster Civic Association hosted a tour of Minster’s 4th Street with the history of Minster’s founding and the 4th Street businesses provided by Mary Oldiges of the Minster Historical Society.
The tour extended from Main Street to the Miami Erie Canal. While Oldiges provided historical content, the Minster Historical Society volunteers pointed out posters the society has that provides historical facts and photographs of 4th Street’s unique history.
At the several rest stops, members of a St. Augustine Choir group, “Liederkranz” provided music in harmony and some local craft beer manufacturer’s provided samples of their product, including the Moeller Brew Barn.
Marco’s Pizza provided nutritional support at the stop by the Miami Erie Canal where the participants visited Minster’s iconic Dutch Mill. The tour finished back at the Oktoberfest Park. The Dutch Mill, Bud’s Pizza, and the Wooden Shoe also supported the event.
Minster’s Historical Society’s Museum was open for guests to view the current exhibit focusing on the Vietnam War Era. The public is encouraged to view the exhibit during the next several months while it is on display. The museum is open on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The Minster Civic Association and Minster Historical Society would like to thank all of the volunteers and businesses that helped support this overwhelmingly successful event. The weather was beautiful and participation at the event exceeded 250 residents, organizers said.
