VERSAILLES — The Midwestern Ohio Brewing Society has announced a craft beer competition for Aug. 21.

Home brewers only may submit up to three entries, one per category. There is a fee of $5 per entry. Proceeds from the contest will support the Versailles Alumni Association and the society’s efforts to educate the public about making beer.

Contest categories are American ale, including pale ale, amber and brown; light lager, including standard American, Munich Helles and Dortmunder export; porter, including brown, robust and Baltic; stout, including dry, oatmeal and American; and IPA, including English, American and Imperial.

Brewers must submit two, 10- to 12-ounce brown bottles per entry. There should be no identifying marks on the bottles or the caps. Entries must be delivered to 21 W. Main St., Versailles between Aug 11 and Aug. 20. Entry fee checks should be made payable to Midwestern Ohio Brewing Society.
