Agape offers supplies to teachers

SIDNEY — Any teacher who works in Shelby County can get a big break on paying for supplies for their classrooms next week.

Agape Distribution, 209 S. Brooklyn Ave., will give a voucher worth $25 to any teacher who goes there from Aug. 3 to Aug. 8. The vouchers are good for purchasing supplies at Agape Distribution.

“Twenty-five dollars is like $100-$125 retail,” said director Dr. John Geissler. “They can spend as much as they want, but the first $25 is on us.”

Most of the items are priced at 25 percent of retail, he added. “It will maximize dollars.”

Office supplies, colored paper, copier paper, party supplies for decorating classrooms, personal items including hand sanitizers and paper towels, white boards, snacks and other items are available.

“We’re supporters of education,” Geissler said. “And educators are education. We want to help them do what they do best: build young lives.”

Agape Distribution has offered discounted and free supplies to teachers in the past, but has never before made them available for a whole week.

To get the discounts, teachers must present their teacher ID cards. The hours when Agape is open for shopping are Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, from 8 a.m. to noon. The organization is closed on Friday.
