New Bremen couple injured in motorcycle-tractor accident

NORTH STAR — A New Bremen couple was injured in a two-vehicle accident Saturday in Darke County.

Robin Webster, 54, New Bremen, and his wife, Amy Webster, New Bremen, were ejected from the motorcycle they were riding after it hit a tractor. Mr. Webster was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. He is currently in the intensive care unit of the hospital in serious condition.

Mrs. Webster, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater.

On Aug. 1, 2015, at approximately 5:27 p.m. Darke County Deputies along with Ansonia Rescue, North Star Fire and CareFlight, responded to an injury crash involving a motorcycle and tractor at the intersection of Ohio 705 and Whiterd Road.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2014 Orange/Black Harley Davidson Road King operated by Robin Webster and passenger, Amy Webster, were traveling Eastbound on Ohio 705 and attempted to pass a Blue New Holland tractor pulling a manure spreader operated by Jerome Otte, 57, Maria Stein, as the tractor slowed down and was attempting to make a left turn onto Whiterd Road.

The motorcycle struck the front left tire of the tractor ejecting both occupants of the motorcycle. The operator of the tractor, Otte, was not injured.

The Darke County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team was also on scene to investigate the crash scene.

This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
