SIDNEY – The bids were coming fast Saturday morning as the sheep, cattle and goats were sold during the Junior Fair livestock sale at the 2015 Shelby County Fair.
Elizabeth Shatto, 11, of Fort Loramie, daughter of Jason and Heather Shatto, is a member of Fort Loramie Livestock. In 2014 she sold the reserve champion lamb for a record $5,000.
This year, her grand champion lamb sold for a record $8,200 to 22 buyers. Last year the grand champion lamb sold for $3,450. The buyers were Shelby County Auditor Amy Berning, Best One Tire-Jeff Pollard, Shelby County Commissioners Tony Bornhorst and Robert Guillozet, Egbert Livestock, Botkins,St. Henry Bank, State Sen. Keith Farber, Harrod Insurance Agency, IMS, J & L Power Equipment Inc., Laneview Farms LLC, Mike’s Barn & Yard Connection, Minster Bank, Mutual Federal, NAPA First Call Auto Parts, Rapid Development Inc., Schafer Oil Company, Sidney Body CarStar, Wagner’s IGA Market, Countyline Ag. Services, Devitt Club Lambs, North Star Equipment and Matt Huffman for Senate.
Jacob Pleiman, 12, of Botkins, son of Jeremy and Lynn Pleiman, is a member of Botkins Livestock.
His reserve champion lamb sold for $2,550 to 23 buyers. The buyers were Bornhorst Printing, Shelby County Commissioner Tony Bornhorst, Cargill Crop INsurance, Shelby County Commissioner Julie Ehemann, Donald A. Sommer Inc., Jim, Elaine Egbert and family, Emerson Eagner Realty Inc., John Frische D.D.S., HER Realtors, Fred, Billie Homan and family, Jeff Metz Construction, Local Equipment, Laneview Farms LLC, Maria Stein Grain, Mike’s Barn & Yard Connection, Provico Farm & Show Supply, Rapid Development Inc., Schafer Oil Company, Valentine Visor, H & W Transportation Logistics, St. Henry Bank, Matt Huffman for Senate, and MCJ Genetics.
Macey Huelskamp, 15, of Anna, daughter of Chad and Tonya Huelskamp, is a member of Anna Livestock.
Her grand champion cattle sold for $5,200 to one buyer and one add-on. The buyer was Kloeppel Livestock Inc., and the add-on for $50 was Pollyfill, LLC.
Tyler Zimpfer, 15, of Anna, son of Ted and Molly Zimpfer, is a member of Anna Livestock.
His reserve champion cattle sold for $2,700 to 15 buyers. The buyers were Apple Farm Service, Area Energy & Electric, Inc., Bambauer Fertilizer & Seed/Jackson, Brodbeck Seeds, Design-N-Wood, Donald A. Sommer Inc., Egbert Livestock Botkins and St. Henry Bank, Fennig Homan Agri. Business, Maria Stein Grain, P & T LLC, Provico Farm & Show Supply, State Rep. Jim Buchy, Trupointe, Zimpfer Farms, and Fultz Flooring.
Katie Egbert, 15, of Botkins, daughter of Jim and Elaine Egbert, is a member of Botkins Livestock. In 2014, her grand champion goat was sold for $13,050.
This year, her grand champion goat sold for $8,850 to 33 buyers. Her reserve champion goat sold for a record $2,100 to one buyer. Last year it sold for $1,500. The buyer was Kloeppel Livestock Inc. both years.
