SIDNEY – A fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a semi rig Friday afternoon at County Road 25A and Kirkwood Road is still under investigation.

Initial reports indicate the semi, traveling east on Kirkwood, failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of County Road 25A causing the motorcycle, which was traveling north on County Road 25A, to hit at about the middle of the 53-foot trailer, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

The motorcyclist, who died at the scene, was 39-year-old Shawn Hill, of Piqua.

The semi driver, John Coyle, of Converse, Indiana, failed to stop after the accident and was pulled over by Sidney Police in the 100 block of West Court Street in downtown Sidney. Initial reports indicated Coyle didn’t realize an accident had even occurred.

Houston Rescue, Lockington Fire and Rescue, and Sidney Fire & Emergency Services all responded to the scene of the crash, which occurred about 1:45 p.m. As of 5 p.m. Friday, Coyle had not been cited.
