SIDNEY — The S.S. Book Nook, the iconic red boat of the Amos Memorial Public Library children’s room, will be up for auction.
The live event for those 18 and older will be Aug. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the art gallery of the Amos Library, 230 E. North St. Tickets for the event can be purchased at any Shelby County Libraries location for $10 in advance. They will cost $15 at the door. The ticket covers wine, hors d’oeuvres, live music and a bid number for the event. Guests will also have the opportunity to bid on silent auction items.
“The S. S. Book Nook has been a treasured feature of the Amos Library children’s room for many years. Since it likely won’t be able to keep up with the additional traffic in our new addition, we think the boat is ready for a much-needed retirement. We are giving our patrons the chance to add a very unique piece of Amos Library history to their home library, bedroom or playground. Come to the auction and help us wish the boat ‘bon voyage,’” said Rikki Unterbrink, youth services director.
