Minster Oktoberfest button revealed

MINSTER — Some years ago, the rules for the Minster Oktoberfest Button Design Contest changed to include non-Minster residents. This presented an opportunity for former residents, extended family, and even college friends to showcase their talent. This year’s button design winner is just that.

Amanda Yarnell, originally from Sylvania, Ohio, went to her first Minster Oktoberfest as a sophomore at Bowling Green State University in 2006. She had a phenomenal time.

Yarnell knew 2016 was the perfect year to enter in the button design contest for a couple of reasons.

She is a graphic designer at Ohio State University, and and owner of an Etsy shop. She’s constantly adding new pieces and products so this seemed like a natural project for her to take on. Second, the most meaningful to her is her engagement to Aaron Herkenhoff, a minster native.

“There’s not a better way to start the wedding celebration, and pay homage to my soon to be Herkenhoff last name, than a win for Oktoberfest,” Yarnell said.

Pre-sale for the hat pins and buttons will start after labor day at Jenni’s Hallmark, Minster Library, Buds, Dutch Mill, and Donauer’s Barber Shop.
