SIDNEY — The Sidney-Shelby County YMCA will celebrate the grand re-opening of its Youth Center from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, to showcase the addition of new interactive games and furniture through a grant from Honda of America.

“The Y has always been a place where the whole family can come and enjoy programs and activities that are physically, mentally, and spiritually enriching,” said David O’Leary, operations director. “With the addition of a variety of new Exergame equipment, such as the 3-Kick, Heavy Ball, I-Dance, and Exerbike, kids and adults of all ages will have another opportunity to have fun and stay active.”

The grand re-opening is free, open to the community and will include healthy snacks, games and prizes for the whole family. In addition to the new Exergame equipment, the youth center also has an indoor playground, interactive play area (BEAM), climbing wall, air hockey, basketball game, sport wall, cornhole, and giant Jenga for a large variety of entertainment options.

“Today, approximately one in three children in America are overweight or obese,” said O’Leary. “This is one reason our Y remains committed to investing in new ways to promote healthy living in our community.”
