SIDNEY — Clear Creek Farm wants you to help them pick a chili cook-off winner while rooting on Ohio State during their third annual Buckeye Bash Fundraiser on Oct. 22.
The annual “tailgate-style” fundraiser for the non-profit organization helps to provide homes for emotionally or physically orphaned children. The event will be held at VanDemark Farm, located at 2401 S. Vandemark Road, from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m.
This year, Clear Creek will have a hog-roast with “game-day food.” Beer and wine will be available for purchase. You must be 21 to attend. Tickets are $25 a piece or $45 per couple, which includes food and the first two drinks.
The Ohio State vs. Penn State game will be displayed indoors on big screen TVs.
Registration is required for the cook-off; the deadline is Monday, Oct. 10. Contestants may register via email at email@example.com.
Clear Creek’s Executive Director Chad Gessler said as of Wednesday they have six contestants registered, but hopes to get a least a couple more.
“We just want to encourage people to come out and support a good cause and have some fun rooting for the Buckeyes,” said Gessler. “Just like with any event, the more people, the more fun.”
During halftime, the grand champion will be awarded a trophy and a gift certificate. Based on the number of entries, there may be a second and third place winner, as well.
Gessler said over the last couple of years the event has grown, with around 100 attendees last year. He hopes it will continue to grow and draw between 100-150 people this year.
“We definitely want to get it out there what we do here at Clear Creek — about who we are and what we do — and make some funds while doing it,” Gessler said. “A lot is just getting our name out there. A lot of people don’t know who we are.”
The fundraiser will include a raffle of “themed baskets and 50/50 tickets, but Gessler said there are a variety of other ways people can donate such as utilizing Paypal on their website.
