BOTKINS — Botkins Police are looking for a suspect who broke into the Dollar General Store on South Main Street early Monday morning.

Botkins Police Chief Tom Glass said police arrived at the store around 5:30 a.m. after an alarm sounded in the store. They noticed an open door on the north east side of the building. Upon further inspection they found it was forced open.

“Nothing was disturbed in the outer part of the store, it looks like he went straight to the office. There were some pulled wires from where the suspect tried to deactive alarms,” Glass said. “It looks like he was only interested in stealing cash because he went straight to the safe.”

Glass said the safe was locked, so the intruder left with nothing after being in the store for 62 seconds. A K9 unit was also brought out to do a search of the building.

The suspect is approximately a 5 feet and 5 inches tall, 180 pound, white male. If you have any information about the breaking and entering please contact the Botkins Police at 937-693-4341, or through the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office at 937-498-1111.
