Girl scout troop donates $1,600 to library

FORT LORAMIE — Fort Loramie Girl Scout Troop #20686 earned their Silver Award this summer and were able to donate over $1,600 to the A.J. Wise Fort Loramie Branch Library.

To earn the Silver Award, the girls had to come up with a community project that would benefit others for future generations, following specific guidelines set up by the Girl Scout Council. Some of those include organizing a plan, partnering with the facilities and contacts involved and earning their own money, all in a certain timeframe.

The girls, all having a passion for reading, decided to partner with the library to buy books for the young adult section now and create a plan to be sure new books could be added on a regular basis into the future.

After having several bake sales and getting monetary donations, the girls were able to donate over $1,600.

Members of the troop who presented the check to the library were Nora Beresik, daughter of Marie Beresik, Andrea Rodeheffer, daughter of Scott and Brenda Rodeheffer, and Allie Barlage, daughter of Brian and Traci Barlage.
