Vietnam Wall route announced

SIDNEY — Organizers of the Shelby County Historical Society Week of Valor have announced the route that will be taken by the truck hauling the AVTT-TWF Vietnam Memorial replica wall and its motorcycle escort when they come to Sidney, Sept. 2.

All motorcyclists who want to participate in the escort must meet at the Wapakoneta VFW hall, 712 N. Dixie Highway, Wapakoneta, by 5:30 p.m. No one will be permitted to join the escort en route.

The parade of motorcycles and the truck will leave the VFW hall at 6 p.m. Their journey will end at Custenborder Park, 449 Riverside Drive, Sidney, a few hours later.

The route they will travel is somewhat different from the route used when the AVTT-TWF Vietnam Memorial came to Sidney five years ago. That’s because part of County Road 25A is closed this year.

The parade route will be closed to all traffic during the procession. People who live along the route will not be able to get to or from their houses until the procession has passed.

The route is as follows:

From the VFW hall parking lot, the procession will turn right onto Auglaize Street, then left onto Blackhoof Street, which becomes Hardin Pike. It will turn left onto Ohio 219, right onto County Road 25A and follow County Road 25A into Sidney on Wapakoneta Avenue. It will bear right onto Ohio Street, then turn left onto Court Street, left onto Main Avenue and right onto North Street, which becomes Riverside Drive.
