Hoying joined the Minster Historical Society in 1982 which she has continued to assist with the most recent program being “Stepping Among the Stones’ for which she researches several areas of the Minster cemetery each year then takes a tour group through those areas. She has spent much time doing genealogical research on the people of Minster which has included going to Germany to trace Minster where she has traced ancestors of immigrants to Minster. Hoying has been an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post for 60 years. She is presently the group Auditor. Hoying’s daughter Ruth Fullenkamp commented that “her life has been intertwined with her love for heritage, genealogy and history.
