Nominations open for Gov Awards

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Arts Council (OAC) has announced that nominations for the 2016 Governor’s Awards for the Arts in Ohio will close on Oct. 16, at midnight.

Nominations will be accepted in the following seven categories: arts administration, arts education, arts patron, business support of the arts, community development and participation, individual artist and the Irma Lazarus award.

All submissions are online.

The 2016 Governor’s Awards for the Arts in Ohio & Arts Day Luncheon will take place May 18, in downtown Columbus. Event details will be released in the coming months.

The Governor’s Awards for the Arts in Ohio honors Ohio individuals and organizations for their outstanding contributions to the arts locally, statewide, regionally, nationally and internationally. Arts Day was created to foster a greater awareness of the value of the arts in Ohio. Citizens are encouraged to participate in Arts Day by visiting with their state legislators and communicate the need for public support of the arts and arts education.
