Rural Council seeks trustees

Staff report

PIQUA – The Council on Rural Services has announced a need for volunteers to join its board of trustees, which meets monthly in Piqua.

The council is a local social service agency that works through grants to expand opportunities for individuals and families to increase their potential for change and growth in their lives.

The agency administers grants and programs in a nine-county area of west central Ohio. Grants include Head Start, Early Head Start, Kids Learning Place, Gateway Youth Programs, Achievement Center for Educational Success and Community Connectors.

The programs help young children advance with kindergarten readiness skills, parents move towards self-sufficiency, adolescents and young adults with youth development, empowerment and high school diplomas. The agency and employees serve approximately 2,200 clients and their families during each year.

Board candidates should have a complex scope and understanding of operational systems for a large company. Skills in finance, program or business development, and community or public relations would also be a great benefit.

People who live or work in Auglaize, Champaign, Darke, Greene, Logan, Miami, Preble, Shelby or Van Wert counties and have an interest in being considered as a candidate, should call 937-778-5220 or email dschwanitz@councilonruralservices.org.
