DELAWARE, Ohio — Stacie Archer, a 1995 graduate of Sidney High School, continues to make inroads in the tech world with the recent release of a free video game. It’s the second such game released by his organization, Starch, a mobile gaming company based here.

The 39-year-old Archer and business partner, Greg Maddox, handle different duties in the two-man operation. Archer said he works to create game concepts and design, while Maddox handles development of the product.

Archer attended Ohio University where he earned a degree in Graphic Design in 1999. He told the SDN he has worked mostly as a freelance graphic designer for the last 17 years and has completed projects for Best Western, Big Lots, EXPRESS, Kohl’s, Victoria’s Secret, and many others.

“Right now, our focus is minimalist puzzle games for players of all ages. We’re hoping to release other games soon, as well as continuous updates to Level,” Archer said.

Level: A Simple Puzzle Game is a free, unique, and addictive puzzle game, Archer said. The goal of the game is for players to align platforms by moving different shapes around. It’s available for all Apple devices, and can be downloaded from the App Store, he added.

“Years ago, I had created another game that involved squishing bugs. It was very cartoonish, and over-the-top. This time around, I wanted to do something completely different. I wanted to create an engaging puzzle game that was as minimalist as possible in both concept and design.”

Information regarding the company and the game can be found at www.starchstudio.com.
