NEW BREMEN — A Houston woman was seriously injured Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash on state Route 66, near state Route 219.

The Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported Hunter Smith, 19, of Houston, was northbound on Route 66 and turning left into a private drive. A car behind her stopped suddenly to avoid hitting Smith’s auto. The driver of a semi rig, also northbound, swerved to the left to avoid the stopped car and hit Smith’s auto.

Smith was taken to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys and then by medical helicopter to St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

The driver of the semi rig, Ernest Raber, 68, of Clyde, was not injured. The driver of the other car, who was not identified, also was not hurt. The crash occurred about 12:45 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
