Minster Knights of Columbus earn top award

MINSTER — Knights of Columbus Council 2158, of Minster, has earned the distinction of STAR Council.

This is one of the organization’s top awards fro the 2015-16 fraternal year. The award recognizes overall excellence in the areas of membership, recruitment, and retention, probation of the fraternal insurance program, and sponsorship of service oriented activities for youth, family, community, and church.

The award was presented to the membership by District Deputy Jerry Tebbe at the council’s January meeting.

Past Grand Knight and Membership Chairman Tim Bertke, along with current Grand Knight and Program Director Roger Rutschilling received the plaque from Tebbe.

“I am very proud of and thankful for all the members who had a part in helping the council earn this award again this past year,” Bertke said.

Rutschilling added, “Receiving the STAR Council Award is quite an honor for our council and may this award be a reminder and an inspiration to our members to continue to promote the good works of the Knights of Columbus and strive to ear this award again this fraternal year.”

The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest catholic lay organization. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the church, their communities, families and youth.
