FORT LORAMIE — This Friday and Saturday Fort Loramie will host the 2015 German Heritage Days.
The celebration will take place in the Canal Park near the intersection of state Route 66 (Main Street) and state Route 705 (Park Street) in Fort Loramie.
Highlights for Friday:
4 p.m.: Park opens
8 p.m. to midnight: Music by the Alpine Express
Saturday:
9 a.m.: Kegs-N-Kraut 5K race starts
11 a.m.: Food stands open and car show
Noon: Greg Shipley will be speaking on Artifacts and Excavations of the Fort site on the Fleckenstein Farm
1 p.m.: In the gazebo, James Williams will have a presentation on the surveying of the Greenville Treaty Line.
2 to 6 p.m.: Freelance Acoustical Duo
8 to midnight: Alpine Express Band
Both days the food stand will be operating featuring: brats, whole hog sausage, sauerkraut, cabbage rolls, ruben bites, cheese curds, apple dumplings, homemade German potato salad, German chocolate cake, jaeger schnitzel w/pretzel bun, and more.
