SIDNEY — The Sidney-Shelby County YMCA cheerleading teams competed at the CheerMax National Championships in Columbus, Ohio, on Jan. 29.
Spirit Force BlackOut (senior team for ages 11-18) and the Spirit Force Super Stars (Special Needs team for all ages) won 1st in their respective divisions. Spirit Force Avengers (youth team for ages 5-10) won second place in their division.
In addition to winning a National Title, Spirit Force BlackOut also won The Sweeps – a prestigious award given to the cheer team that wins the top three highest scores throughout the CheerMax season. The Sidney-Shelby County YMCA Spirt Force Senior team took the sweeps title and earned a $300 check and banner for the program along with a trophy, T-shirt and a national champion jacket for each cheerleader.
