YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. — Eight students in the Environmental Occupations Program at the Upper Valley Career Center in Piqua are learning in a unique way — and in a unique place — this week.

The students are in Wyoming at Yellowstone National Park, absorbing a multitude of facts and experiences during the annual trip.

“Our goal is to inspire and educate students on career paths in national parks,” said EOP instructor Michaella Quinter, “and to study the ecology, wildlife, geothermals, and geology of Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons.”

Quinter and co-instructor Jim Metz are traveling with Austin Brown, Blaine Carey, Kierstin Haney, Piers Hursey, Kinden Inderrieden, Kristin Oliver, Kuris Page, and Jamie Wallis.

In addition to his learning experiences, Wallis is serving as photographer, providing a daily photo journal of the trip.

“This has been such and amazing experience.” said Wallis, “There’s no words to explain how beautiful it is out here. I have definitely learned the steps to become a National Park Ranger.”

The photos accompanying this story are just a few of the images provided by Wallis.

The group will be returning on Saturday.
