SIDNEY — Recently the Upper Valley Career Center hosted its Electrical Trades Advisory Committee meeting and Laura Larger, a school-to-apprenticeship employee of Sollmann Electric Co., was recognized as the Outstanding Senior for 2015.

The Outstanding Senior appelation is awarded to the student who presents the highest qualities of honor and integrity. The student must have made significant advancement throughout the year, had 95 percent attendance for both junior and senior years, shown leadership qualities inside and outside of the school setting and exhibited a good moral character and attitude.

Larger graduated from Fort Loramie High School in May and has become a full-time employee of Sollmann Electric Co. She will continue her electrical trades studies through the Associated Builders and Contractors Ohio Valley Chapter Apprenticeship Program. The program is a state- and nationally certified apprenticeship program which requires the apprentice to complete 576 hours of related technical instruction and 8,000 on-the-job training hours. The program takes approximately four years and upon completion, Larger will be recognized as a qualified journeyperson electrician with the Ohio State Apprenticeship Council of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training.

Jeramie Sollmann, president of Sollmann Electric Co., said, “I am so proud of Laura and her accomplishments. She is a leader and hard worker and is well on her way to a successful career at Sollmann Electric Co. There are very few females in the electrical trade and I hope Laura and her accomplishments encourage other females to pursue the trade.”
