Upper Valley Career Center honors students

PIQUA — Upper Valley Career Center honored student achievement in an evening program, Thursday, May 4. Student Services Director Matt Meyer welcomed the honorees and their families. Awards were presented by Meyer, Superintendent Nancy Luce, PhD, Executive Director Jason Haak and program supervisors Eric Bowser; Joe Davis; Timothy Cordonnier and Roger Voisard.

One hundred-twenty juniors and seniors have perfect attendance for the first three grading periods this year. Forty-two of these students earned 3.25 or better grade point average. Additionally ten seniors had perfect attendance their junior year and during the first three grading periods this year. All were recognized on stage in the Hartzell Lecture Hall.

One hundred fifty-two juniors and seniors were awarded the Upper Valley Career Center Honor Pin for their 3.50 or better grade point average and 98% or higher attendance during the first three grading periods this year. One hundred-twenty juniors and seniors were honored for earning a perfect 4.00 grade point average during the first three grading periods of the this school year.

Sixteen seniors earned all A’s in each of their Upper Valley Career Center academic classes each grading period for the 2015-2016 year and the first three grading periods for the 2016-2017 school year. The honorees are: Nicholas Alspaugh, Drew Alt, Chelsie Brautigam, Holly Bucholtz, Kyle Flaute, Emma Flory, Joel Gaier, Dylan Hensley, Kyleigh Jones, Austin Maddy, Raymond Osborn, Jennifer Ozanich, Bryann Padgitt, Keaton Pfeiffer and Anne Randall.

Special awards and scholarships were announced next: The J. Scott Garbry Memorial Scholarship – Walter Branson, Chase Gambill, Veronnika Hardin, Samuel Kirkpatrick, and Cheyenne Parke; The Ray Kroc Youth Achievement Award – Gabrielle Centliver; The Amber Detrick Memorial Early Childhood Scholarship – Haeley Kittel; The Sharon Weyant Memorial Scholarship – Cailin Litten; The McColloch-Baker Scholarship – Emillie Carter; The Ernest Johns American Legion Award – Jordan Bolin; The Amber Detrick Memorial Early Childhood Scholarship – Darianne Ganger; The Sharon Weyant Memorial Scholarship – Darianne Ganger; The Matt D. Zimpfer Memorial Award – Joseph Bowman; The Cecil E. Phillis Memorial Award – Cody Gump; The U.S. Army Reserve Scholar Athlete Award – Rayna Brownlee and Brennan Hicks; The Anthony Fraley/Miami Valley School Business Officials Scholarship – Branden Robinson; President’s Award for Education Excellence – Kyle Flaute and Keaton Pfeiffer; The Ray Kroc Youth Achievement Award – Darian Kaltenbach; The David M. and Glenna M. Whitmore – Rayna Brownlee; Holly Bucholtz, Katelynn Caron, and Keaton Pfeiffer.

The Executive Director’s Award salutes Upper Valley Career Center seniors who have demonstrated the ability to overcome obstacles and achieve success. Jason Haak, executive director, presented the award to Darian Kaltenbach and Victoria Myers in recognition of their stellar achievement.
