Training door arrives at Sidney fire station

Sidney firefighter Lt. Tony McLain, right, shows fellow firefighter Lt. Rod Dyer, how the Sidney Fire Department’s new fire door works. The fire door had just arrived and was still on it’s moving pallet Thursday, June 29. The door is an a forceable entrance and exit simulator which will allow firefighters to practice techniques so they can do as little damage as possible. Small pieces of wood like the one held by Dyer are inserted into the door and then broken when the door is forced open. The door was purchased by the Shelby County Firefighter’s Association along with the Sidney Fire Department. The two organizations split the $6,800 price tag 50/50. All area firefighters will have access to the door.
