The Christian Church of Oran will probably not be used for worship for some time. It was to have been dedicated the last Sunday in June, but the congregation was split, and failing to get together the dedication was postponed indefinitely. Yesterday the building committee which is personally responsible for the balance of the debt went to the church and locked the doors, announcing that no more services will be held until the church is dedicated.

The disposition of persons to go away from home to employ themselves on the Fourth of July is probably as marked in Sidney as anywhere. On Saturday, tickets to the value of $470 were sold at this station of the C.H. & D. railway and yesterday enough people went away to call for an additional $530 worth of tickets. This was the largest day’s business here since the last Fourth of July. Six hundred and thirty of the tickets were for those bound for Anna.

It was delivered by Jerry Meckstroth whose farm is on the Shelby-Miami county line, extending into both counties. Persons driving to Columbus during the weekend reported seeing several combines at work in Miami and Champaign county fields which due to their location to the south, are frequently a few days ahead of Shelby in the matter of crop maturities.
