Sidney firefighters wait Tuesday, July 11, at 8:30 a.m. at the scene of a trailer full of shredded recycled plastic that caught fire somewhere around its tire area. The fire spread to the rest of the trailer. Arthur Dickson, the Wooten Logistics driver of the tractor trailer, stopped on the northbound 92 exit ramp where he was able to unhitch the cab and drive it away from the blaze. Sidney firefighters responded to the call at 4:32 a.m. to put out the large fire and waited around during cleanup in case there were any pockets of smoldering plastic that needed dousing with water. Sidney Police Department and the Ohio State Patrol handled traffic control. Shelby County EMA responded to the scene and ODOT conducted the cleanup phase. The Ohio EPA was also contacted. There were no injuries or citations issued.
