SIDNEY — Searching for information about a property has just become easier, says Shelby County Auditor Amy Berning.

“Several enhancements to our website are now active and working great,” said Berning. “The new search engine starts giving you a dropdown of properties to choose from as soon as you start to type either the owner’s name, parcel number or address. Those who have used our property search in the past will be pleasantly surprised when they see how user-friendly the website has become.”

Another enhancement that people have been awaiting is compatibility with smaller electronics like tablets and cell phones.

“The maps on our website did not have the ability to display on the smaller devices in the past,” said Berning. “Now the screen adjusts to fit the device, and everything that can be viewed on a computer will display on cell phones and all screen types. The maps can be zoomed in and out and panned around to see the area.”

Clicking on any point on the map will cause information about that parcel to pop up and offer a full report if one is necessary, said Berning.

“You can also customize your view of the maps to add layers of information such as school districts, soil types, street addresses, etc.,” she said.
